The Cost of Care Management Program Director is a key member of the UHC E&I Dental Specialty Team with direct responsibility for developing and driving medical cost improvement strategies for UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits Dental Organization. This includes analyzing dental cost utilization and unit cost data, identifying top trend drivers and variation opportunities, developing strategies across cross functional teams such as network, account management, and payment integrity, and leading the execution of those strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong analytic and organizational/project management skills as well as an ability to influence and leverage cross functional teams.

This position will support all lines of business to include Commercial, Medicaid and Medicare. Results are critical to this leader's success, as is a personal alignment with UHC's core belief that an organization can manage cost and deliver quality and value to its customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prioritize, manage, and execute affordability initiatives, owning end to end process
  • Collaborate with Finance and Actuarial teams to support dental trend analysis, forecasting, and rate setting inputs
  • Identify key dental cost drivers and present to stakeholders
  • Communicate affordability results and risks to plan to regional leadership
  • Translate utilization and affordability results and concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Guide provider engagement strategies tied to dental affordability and appropriate care as in provider outlier programs
  • Ensure programs are repeatable, measurable, and suitable for audits and state review
  • Provide dental utilization and clinical insights for partner discussions
  • Partner with cross functional teams to address utilization variation balancing cost containment with quality
  • Direct and influence cross-functional teams to adopt new ideas, solutions, and approaches
  • Lead team to maintain dental cost of care analytics, utilization reporting, performance dashboards, and monitoring of cost of care projects
  • Ensure methodology transparency and consistency across internal, state, and audit reporting
  • Monitor emerging dental trends and risks to proactively inform leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of healthcare experience
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Proven excellent communication, collaboration, team building, and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and modeling
  • Demonstrated reporting and analytical skills
  • Proven successful in obtaining support and results in a large corporate, matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trend, utilization, or analytics experience
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server
  • Proven ability to translate complex clinical and financial data into executive-ready insights
  • Proven excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills

The salary for this role will range from $112,700    to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
