We are searching for our next Head of Enterprise Technology Procurement. This role will be incredibly impactful and will shape and enable the transformation of healthcare. As we continue to invest in emerging technologies, this individual will help unlock value through procuring technology that will propel us to the future of healthcare.  This role will lead the Technology Category Strategy team and be responsible for partnering with UnitedHealth Group (UHG) business and Technology teams to set global technology supplier strategy and manage over $4B in annual technology spend. Category focus includes Technology on-prem and cloud infrastructure (incl. Network and Storage), enterprise, business and application software, telecom and Technology Labor Services. This leader will be accountable for guiding a team of ~5 direct reports and 60 indirect team members.

Hybrid in MN/DC: This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Casts a positive leadership shadow and operate as a servant leader who leverages UHG's values
  • Sets vision and strategy for team, appropriately delegates, and motivate their teams through execution
  • Translates business priorities into actionable procurement strategy to drive results
  • Developing individuals and teams, managing through change, and transforming teams to serve as trusted advisors
  • Successfully support migration to the cloud through effective deal structures for both on prem and cloud resources
  • Earn and retain a "seat at the table" with key business stakeholders by adding value through strategic guidance and recommendations
  • Partners effectively with peers toward achieving linked outcomes
  • Embraces the "team-of-teams" concept toward collaboration in a matrixed organization
  • Be motivated by and promote continual improvement and contribute toward team outcomes by seeking out solutions to complex problems
  • Manages team performance goals through objective measures

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years progressive experience building and managing global supply management / procurement with focus on procurement operations, strategic sourcing and cost reduction initiatives

  • 5+ years of experience negotiating complex enterprise-wide contracts

  • Expertise in supplier negotiations, including pricing strategy, "should-cost" modeling, legal terms, supplier risk management, and service-level requirements

  • Deep expertise in technology sourcing and procurement (including hardware, software, telecom, services, and/or subscription-based technology products and services)

  • Prior experience partnering with technology executive leadership & other stakeholders to define long term category and supplier strategies

  • Highly refined executive presence with both written and verbal communication abilities across all audiences

  • Prior experience leading procurement negotiations within Fortune 100 organizations

  • Proven track record of stakeholder management and influencing outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to lead global team across North America, LATAM, APAC, and Europe and drive outcomes across borders/cultures

  • Track record of leveraging standardized business processes, data & analytics with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Experience integrating suppliers and team members introduced through M&A activity

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $196,600 to $337,100 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
