The Associate Director of Finance for Optum Capital Finance will provide strategic financial leadership for Optum Insight's Business Services capital portfolio.  This role partners with senior leaders to evaluate investments, prioritize initiatives, and ensure disciplined capital deployment aligned to enterprise strategy.  Ideal for a seasoned finance leader who combines solid analytical rigor with executive influence and is eager to shape high-impact investments across a complex, growth-focused organization.


Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic & Financial Partnership

  • Partner with the Director of Finance and Capital Management leadership to contribute to development of annual and long-term Capital Plans
  • Prepare financial analyses, scenarios, and models that inform strategic recommendations and operational decisions
  • Maintain tools and processes that deliver clear and actionable insights for leadership
  • Participate in discussions with business partners regarding changes or risks within the Capital Plan
  • Translate analytical findings into concise, executive-ready recommendations

Financial & Operational Management

  • Co-lead corporate budgeting and forecasting cycles, supporting SG&A accuracy and alignment with financial expectations
  • Develop financial reporting packages, dashboards, and presentations for senior leaders
  • Coordinate: 
    • Quarterly forecasting deliverables
    • Corporate and segment-level Capital Plan reporting
    • Financial narratives and key performance insights
  • Manage day-to-day activities associated with Capital CBA Benefits, including: 
    • Tracking benefit performance in CDM
    • Preparing benefit reports and maturity assessments
    • Collaborating with Capital Finance, FP&A leads, HCE, and SG&A Finance teams to validate and ensure accuracy of benefit data
  • Support development and maintenance of internal cost allocation models and processes to ensure accuracy and transparency of shared cost structures

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage and develop a small team (typically 1-3 employees), including work allocation, coaching, performance management, and training
  • Provide financial expertise to cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives that extend beyond direct reporting lines
  • Demonstrate a collaborative, service-oriented approach when working across Optum business units

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of progressive finance experience
  • Demonstrated solid financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with business leaders and influence decision-making
  • Proven solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics succinctly
  • Proven ability to identify financial or operational issues and contribute to solutions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Healthcare or diversified services industry experience
  • Experience with capital planning, CBA benefit tracking, or corporate cost allocation processes


Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 to $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
