About the Role:

The Scrum Master serves as a trusted Agile practitioner within the Data & Analytics organization, partnering with Product Owners, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Analytics professionals, business stakeholders, and technology teams to facilitate the successful delivery of complex initiatives.

This role is responsible for enabling high-performing Agile teams through coaching, facilitation, servant leadership, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will help teams improve delivery predictability, collaboration, transparency, and overall effectiveness while ensuring Agile principles and best practices are consistently applied throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Operating within a complex portfolio environment, the Scrum Master will help teams navigate dependencies across shared data assets, data products, platforms, environments, governance processes, release schedules, and business stakeholders. The role requires solid organizational awareness and facilitation skills to ensure dependencies are visible, risks are proactively managed, and teams can translate strategic priorities into realistic and achievable sprint and release plans.

As a senior individual contributor, this role provides leadership through influence rather than authority, fostering an environment that supports innovation, continuous learning, accountability, and delivery excellence. The Scrum Master will serve as a key resource to teams and stakeholders, proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, remove barriers, and enhance overall team performance.

Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Scrum Master for one or more Data & Analytics delivery teams, facilitating Agile delivery and supporting successful business outcomes
  • Lead Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain healthy backlogs, refine priorities, and maximize business value delivery
  • Coach Agile teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders on Scrum principles, Agile practices, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, accountability, innovation, and team ownership
  • Identify, remove, and proactively manage impediments, risks, dependencies, and constraints impacting delivery outcomes
  • Facilitate visibility and resolution of cross-team dependencies across shared data assets, platforms, environments, governance processes, and business stakeholders
  • Partner with business leaders, Product Owners, and delivery teams to translate strategic priorities into realistic sprint goals, release plans, and achievable delivery commitments
  • Coordinate planning and execution activities across multiple teams to ensure alignment on priorities, dependencies, resource constraints, and delivery timelines
  • Support governance, architecture, compliance, privacy, and operational review processes required for successful solution delivery
  • Use Agile metrics and delivery insights to facilitate learning, improve predictability, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and support informed decision-making aligned to customer and business outcomes
  • Promote Agile, Lean, and product-oriented delivery practices while supporting the ongoing growth of Agile maturity across teams
  • Review team processes and workflow practices, providing recommendations to improve delivery effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on Agile delivery practices, team effectiveness, and organizational agility
  • Contribute to the development and adoption of Agile standards, best practices, tools, and delivery frameworks across the Data & Analytics organization

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.
